A nose that you are unhappy with can cause feelings of self-consciousness. With a rhinoplasty, Dr. Weider can address your unique concerns when it comes to the appearance of your nose to improve your overall facial appearance.

What is a Rhinoplasty?

A Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that addresses the size, shape, and symmetry of the nose. Unlike a septoplasty that improves the function of the nose, a rhinoplasty is typically performed for cosmetic reasons. Dr. Weider performs nose reshaping, technically known as rhinoplasty, for women and men over age 16 who desire to improve the appearance of their nose. Dr. Weider brings together his many years of experience, artistic talent, and refined skills to bring harmony and symmetry to the nose. During a consultation with Dr. Weider, you will learn about every aspect of the rhinoplasty procedure including:

  • How nose structure, nasal bones, cartilage, face shape, skin thickness, facial features, and age may influence the procedure
  • Techniques that may be involved in the procedure, including open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty
  • Anesthesia
  • Facility choices such as our fully accredited surgical facility
  • Guidelines to reduce the risk of complications
  • Costs for nose reshaping surgery, including surgeon’s fees, anesthesia fees, and facility fees

"Very compassionate, a very good listener! The first surgeon to listen to me and my specific wants without telling me what he thinks I need. (i.e. double d’s!) Staff is friendly and very helpful. Could not ask for better overall treatment or results. Highly recommend!!!!" Read More >

  • Increasing the size of the nose

Rhinoplasty Surgery

Dr. Weider performs nose surgery to achieve an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The time required for nose reshaping may be two or more hours, depending upon the extent of the procedure. During nose surgery, Dr. Weider will use general anesthesia. He may create incisions inside of the nostrils to perform the closed rhinoplasty procedure. In some cases, discreet incisions may be placed on the nose. This is called open rhinoplasty. During open nose surgery, Dr. Weider will separate the skin from the supporting bone and cartilage framework. Then, he will sculpt the nose into the desired shape. Finally, the skin will be re-draped over the new framework and sutured in place. Nasal packs or soft plastic splints may be placed in the nostrils to stabilize the septum, the dividing wall between the air passages.

Aftercare for Rhinoplasty

Dr. Weider will see you in the first few days after the procedure to guide you through recovery. Most people return to work within one week to ten days following rhinoplasty surgery.

During recovery, you will be provided with guidelines for activity restrictions as well as medications that will ease any discomfort that you might have. You will receive patient aftercare instructions such as soaking gauze pads in ice chips so they may be applied to the nose for comfort. As with all medical procedures, complications may occur during or after the surgical procedure. The guidelines provided by Dr. Weider help to reduce the risk of complications. For example, he will insist you cease smoking four to six weeks prior to and after surgery, as smoking increases the risk of poor healing. You may experience swelling, bruising, bleeding and numbness following surgery which typically subside over time. Rare complications may occur and can usually be managed by Dr. Weider. Complications may include excessive bleeding, prolonged numbness or swelling, and slight asymmetry between the sides of the nose.

The results of the rhinoplasty will be visible when the swelling subsides and usually last for many years to follow. The longevity of results may be affected by aging, poor lifestyle habits, smoking, medical conditions. Nose reshaping may enhance the appearance of the entire face and have a positive impact on self-image.
