Breast Augmentation with Lift

When it comes to enhancing the breasts, breast augmentation with lift can offer optimal results, addressing both volume loss and sagging simultaneously. Dr. Weider offers breast augmentation and lift techniques to those in the Dallas, TX area.

What is a Breast Augmentation with Lift?

Many women who have droopy or sagging breasts, typically after weight loss or childbirth, seek out improvement in the size and shape of their breasts. If the sagging is very mild, this can often be corrected with implants alone. If, however, there is a little more sagging, a lift may be necessary in conjunction with breast implants. While no woman desires the additional scarring associated with a breast lift, it is sometimes the best option for our Dallas patients seeking additional breast fullness and improved shape. Dr. Weider performs a few variations of breast lift with augmentation (mastopexy with implants). During your personal consultation at Weider Plastic Surgery, he will assess your goals and perform a thorough exam. He will then make recommendations as to which procedure is best for you.

Who can Benefit from a Breast Augmentation with Lift?

In general, patients need to be in good health and non-smokers (or nicotine-free for at least four weeks). In addition, they need to have realistic expectations about what can be achieved. Dr. Weider will discuss your goals with you at the time of your consultation, and show you what you can expect. There are some patients who have a large amount of sagging, who do best with a staged procedure. This means having the breast lift and waiting three months or longer to have the breast implants placed. This lowers the risk of complications for those patients who need the most lifting. Dr. Weider will tell you if he thinks this would be best during your consultation.

Breast Augmentation with Lift Surgery

Dr. Weider performs three types of lift with breast augmentation. For those women who only need minimal elevation of the nipple and breast, he recommends a lift that only involves a scar that goes around the areola. This leaves an almost invisible scar and is known as a periareolar lift with implants. It is also called a Benelli lift after one of the surgeons who designed it. While the scarring is minimal, only a limited amount of lifting can be achieved with the periareolar lift.

For those women who need a little more lifting, Dr. Weider will recommend a vertical lift (mastopexy) with implants. This procedure involves removing excess skin from the bottom of the breast to elevate the breast and the implant. This leaves a scar that goes around the areola and from the bottom of the areola to the bottom of the breast. This is sometimes called the lollipop incision because of the location of the scars.

If there is even more sagging, then Dr. Weider will recommend an inverted “T” lift with an implant. This is a traditional incision used for both breast lifts and breast reduction. In addition to the lollipop scar, there is also a horizontal scar in the fold below the breast. While this is the most powerful lift, in that the most skin can be removed, it also entails the most incisions.

Aftercare for Breast Augmentation with Lift

Dr. Weider will typically see you the day after surgery in order to make sure you are doing well and to guide you through the recovery process. He will check all of your incisions and change your surgical dressing. Prior to surgery, he will prescribe medications including pain medication and a muscle relaxer that will ease your discomfort. Within a few days, you will most likely be comfortable performing daily activities that aren’t strenuous or require lifting over five pounds. Most women can return to work within four to seven days. Dr. Weider will discuss precautions to take in the days following surgery in order to reduce the risk of complications. On the day of surgery, you will be placed in a surgical bra. At your first postoperative visit, you will be provided with information regarding bathing, activities to avoid and caring for your incisions. Initially, you may experience some discomfort as well as swelling and some mild bruising. This will subside within a few weeks. The recommendations for monitoring the condition of your implants will be reviewed with you during your follow up visits.

Breast augmentation with lift provides immediate and dramatic improvements in breast fullness, shape, and positioning. Most women experience life-changing satisfaction following breast augmentation with lift including improved self-image and better fitting clothing.
