Like women, men also struggle with stubborn fat in many of the same areas. However, men often have very different goals when it comes to their liposuction procedure and outcome. Dr. Weider understands how to address the unique concerns of men when it comes to their liposuction recontouring procedure.

What is Male Liposuction?
Male liposuction is like any liposuction technique, however, it is specifically focused on the needs of men. While women often wish to achieve an hourglass figure with a slim waistline and wide hips, men want to maintain a masculine physique, but appear more muscular. This involves precise sculpting to accentuate the abdominal muscles or recontour the chest.
"Very compassionate, a very good listener! The first surgeon to listen to me and my specific wants without telling me what he thinks I need. (i.e. double d’s!) Staff is friendly and very helpful. Could not ask for better overall treatment or results. Highly recommend!!!!" Read More >
Who can Benefit from Male Liposuction?
Men in the Dallas, TX area who experience pockets of stubborn fat with age or after weight loss attempts can benefit from male liposuction with Dr. Weider. The procedure can address enlarged breast tissue (gynecomastia), excess fat covering the abdominal muscles, or the appearance of a “double chin” hiding the jawline. Liposuction techniques can be used almost anywhere on the body including the back, flanks (love handles), upper arms, and thighs. Liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss, so the best candidates will already be within their ideal weight range.
Male Liposuction Surgery
Dr. Weider performs liposuction to permanently remove specific areas of fat on the face (below the chin) and body. The time required for liposuction depends upon the number of areas to be treated and the type of technique selected for the procedure. During liposuction, Dr. Weider will make small incisions at key locations to access the treatment area.
The traditional and tumescent approaches involve the use of a fluid injection comprised of a salt solution, lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a drug that contracts blood vessels to minimize blood loss). The fluid injection reduces blood loss, provides anesthesia during and after surgery and reduces the amount of bruising following surgery. Super wet liposuction is similar to the tumescent approach, except the amount of fluid that is injected is less than with the tumescent approach (the tumescent approach involves an amount greater than amount of fat to be removed). Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL) requires the use of a special cannula that produces ultrasonic energy. The cannula creates an energized explosion of fat cell walls and liquifies the fat. The fat is then removed through the traditional liposuction technique. It is also commonly used in secondary procedures when there is a large amount of fibrous tissue.
Aftercare for Male Liposuction
Dr. Weider will see you during the aftercare period to help ensure a comfortable recovery. Within a few days following surgery, you’ll most likely feel like returning to most normal activities. Dr. Weider will prescribe medication to ease any discomfort you might have during the recovery period. You may experience swelling, bruising, bleeding and numbness following surgery, which will subside over time. You will be required to wear a compression garment 24 hours per day to help reduce swelling and bleeding. Dr. Weider will provide a list of instructions to follow in order to reduce the risk of complications. Complications are rare and can usually be managed by Dr. Weider.
You will be able to enjoy the benefits from liposuction within six to eight weeks of the procedure. Liposuction results may change over time, depending upon aging, weight changes, exercise regimen, and diet. Scarring is minimal and will continue to fade with time.
