What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable dermal filler, containing poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that add volume immediately, Sculptra takes some time to show results, however, these improvements are typically long lasting with continued improvement over time.

Who can Benefit from Sculptra?
If you have noticed facial volume loss due to a loss of collagen with age, you could benefit from the restorative benefits of Sculptra. With Sculptra, you can improve the appearance of static lines and wrinkles around the nose, mouth, and chin. Sculptra can also be used to enhance the facial features, adding volume to the cheeks and under the eyes. Those who want to achieve immediate improvement in wrinkles and facial contours may benefit more from a hyaluronic acid filler. However, if you want to add facial volume over time and maintain natural looking results, Sculptra is an effective option. Some patients also choose Sculptra as a preventative treatment, stimulateng collagen production before signs of aging become visible.
Treatment With Sculptra
Prior to treatment with Sculptra, the skin will be cleansed and prepped with topical numbing cream. Dr. Weider will then map out the injection points adjacent to the areas around the face that have been identified for treatment. A small amount of Sculptra will then be placed beneath the skin where volume restoration is needed. This process typically takes about 15 to 45 minutes to complete.
Results of Sculptra
After treatment with Sculptra, there is no required downtime, however, patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and possibly redness at the injection points. These side effects should only last a few days. The results of Sculptra are not immediate, so it is important to be patient after treatment. Your body will begin to produce more collagen in the next few weeks, resulting in filled in lines and wrinkles. Often times a second and possibly a third treatment will be needed at six-week intervals to achieve optimal facial rejuvenation. The results of treatment with Sculptra will continue to improve over the next 1-2 years.

He then completed a one year surgical internship in Los Angeles at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a four year general surgery residency in Dallas at Methodist Medical Center, and a two year plastic surgery fellowship in Cleveland at Case Western Reserve University.
