Thigh Lift

Either due to weight loss or changes in skin tone with age, many patients seek out improvement in the appearance of their thighs when the skin becomes loose and sags.  A thigh lift tightens the thighs and tones the skin creating a more youthful, pleasing appearance.  Dr. Weider performs two types of thigh lifts.  If the excess skin is primarily in the upper portion of the thigh, the scar can be hidden in the junction between the thigh and groin area.  This is called a medial thigh lift. If the loose skin extends into the middle or lower part of the thigh, then a thigh lift with an incision from the groin to the knee is probably necessary.  This is usually the case for those individuals who have had bariatric surgery.

Procedure and Recovery:

Avoidance of nicotine products including cigarettes is necessary before and after a thigh lift.  The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia as an out-patient (day surgery).  The recovery period typically lasts a few weeks.  During this time, you can expect to experience some swelling and bruising.  The swelling will subside more quickly if you keep your legs elevated as much as possible.  However, in certain instances, the swelling can last for several weeks.
