GYNECOMASTIA SURGERY

Dr. Weider performs male breast reduction surgery to provide firmer, well-proportioned chests for men. The time required for gynecomastia surgery may be two or more hours, depending upon the extent of the procedure. During male breast reduction surgery, Dr. Weider may use local anesthesia and sedation when utilizing liposuction to remove excess fat from the pectoral region. Finally, a compression garment may be placed around the breasts which should be worn for seven or more days following surgery.

AFTERCARE FOR MALE BREAST REDUCTION

Dr. Weider will see you within the first few days following gynecomastia surgery. You will be provided with guidelines for activity restrictions and discomfort management, including medications to assist with easing discomfort. You may experience swelling, bruising, bleeding and numbness following surgery which subsides with the aid of the compression garment and pain medication.

As with all medical procedures, complications rarely occur and can usually be managed by Dr. Weider. Scars will lighten over time, and Dr. Weider will do his best to place them in discreet locations.

Most people return to work within one to two weeks following the procedure.
