Micro Fat Injections

Micro Fat Injection is a form of fat grafting in which very small syringes of one’s own fat obtained with liposuction are used to augment and enhance delicate areas of the face and body.  While this procedure is not new, improvements in equipment and technique have made it more reliable with more predictable and long lasting results.  While the most commonly used area for micro fat transfer is the face, it is also valuable for the correction of small contour irregularities in other areas of the body.

As we age there is atrophy of the soft tissues of the face as well as of the bone (facial skeleton).  While facelifts and other skin tightening procedures play an important role in reversing the signs of aging, filling the soft tissues is often just as important to regain a more youthful appearance.  This can be done with many substances, but fat is the most versatile and the longest lasting.  It can be used to fill out the cheeks, hollows below the eyes, temples, brow area and the lips.  The jaw line can also be accentuated. An added benefit is that fat transfer to the face often improves the appearance of the overlying skin.
